2 Courtney Place/Embassy Theatre

Courtney Place has a panoply of fantastic cafe’s, restaurants and bars. Embassy Theatre is a wonderful historic cinema and host to the World Premiers of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

3 Oriental Parade

Wander dreamily along Oriental Parade – take your shoes off on Wellington’s golden sand beach (yep, truly golden!), enjoy a great coffee, lunch or good old Kiwi ice cream from the local dairy; all the while savouring the stunning views across the harbour.

4 Mt Victoria Lookout

(5-10 minute Photo Stop)

Quite frankly, it's impossible to describe the 360° vista from the top of Mount Victoria. It has to be experienced.

5 Wellington Zoo*

Enjoy a lovely stroll in a delightful setting and get up close and personal with over 500 New Zealand native and endangered exotic animals.

6 Weta Cave

Life-sized and miniature models are on display from amazing movies including Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, District 9, Avatar, King Kong and The Chronicles of Narnia. Weta also offers the Weta Cave Workshop Tour*, where you see some of the props and models they’ve created over the years and learn about the processes they use to make such cool stuff.

Weta Cave Workshop Tour* runs every half hour from 10am to 5pm.

7 War Memorial / Great War Exhibition

Created by Sir Peter Jackson and housed in the historic Dominion Museum, this is a truly moving and educational experience for young and old. Honour those lost in 'the war to end all wars' by laying a poppy by a grave side and take in the life like soldiers, trenches, dioramas, real World War I weaponry. The Great War Exhibition is freee to visit and there are guided tours for a small fee. Donations are gratefully appreciated

8 Cuba Quarter

9 Cable Car*

(5–10 minute Photo Stop)

Take in the stunning view from the lookout and be sure to visit the Cable Car Museum. Cable cars run every 10 minutes, our stop is at the top of the Cable Car. (Where you can also have a “rest stop”.)

10 Zealandia* (request only)

A must see eco-attraction, Zealandia is a 225 hectare sanctuary, home to some of the world’s rarest and most extraordinary native birds, reptiles and insects and set in wonderfully lush native New Zealand forest.

11 Botanic Garden

Explore 24 hectares of beautiful gardens, native bush, exotic forests and colourful floral displays. It is a lovely stroll from our Cable Car Stop down through the Botanic Garden to this Stop.

12 Parliament

New Zealand’s unique capital buildings, with our wild Beehive (home of the Prime Minister and Cabinet) and Edwardian Parliament House, (home of the Ministers of Parliament).Free hourly Tours depart on the hour (so allow for a 2 hour hop off).Closed at 4pm on weekends.

13 The National Library

Dive into one of New Zealand's greatest taonga (treasures). Take the opportunity to access the greatest store of our nation's collective knowledge. The National Library is open from Mon-Sat 8.30am-5pm.

14 Old St Paul’s

(5–10 minute Photo Stop)

Our warm and wonderful native timber gothic style cathedral pays homage to the early settlers of New Zealand and their religion. One of Wellington’s great heritage sights.

How to get to us

Tours start and finish at the bus stop at 101 Wakefield St, next to the i-SITE Visitor Centre in the city (see map below).

Free pick up is available from selected accommodation (drop off at the i-SITE). Call us before 9am on the day of your Tour to arrange.

Arriving by cruise ship

If travelling on the Celebrity Solstice, Radiance of the Seas or Voyager of the Seas you have three options:

–Taxi (about 5 minutes and $15 each way)
–Shuttle bus to/from ship to i-SITE (which your cruise ship operates for $10/return)
–Walk about 25-30 minutes (2.5km/1.5m) along Waterloo Quay or the waterfront

If travelling on the Dawn Princess, Sea Princess, Sun Princess or Diamond Princess you have three options:

–Taxi (about 5 minutes and $15 each way)
–Shuttle bus to/from ship to Brandon St (which your cruise ship operates for $10/return) and 10 minute walk to i-SITE see orange route on map
–Walk about 25-30 minutes along Waterloo Quay or the waterfront 
see blue route on map

If travelling on a cruise ship that docks at Queen’s Wharf:

–Walk about 10 minutes (800m/900yds) along the waterfront to i-SITE

Operating Hours/Days

Tours depart on the hour from 10am to 2pm

We operate seven days per week except Christmas day and closed on Mondays from 1 June to 30 September.

Closed 24th April 2015 (ANZAC Day Parade).

Other Important Information

Passes are valid for one 2 hour Tour (excluding hop off time) on the same day.

Passes for the 1pm and 2pm Tours are valid for use the next day up to 1pm or 2pm, please enquire

Whilst every effort will be made to deliver the Tour as listed, we reserve the right to alter timetables, routes, pick ups or alternative transport
